Today is an international holiday! Guess which one!!

Pistachio day!

February 26th is international pistachio day! So to celebrate, I have posted some fun facts about the nuts I’m nuts about.

Pistachios were first cultivated in Western Asia. Later the nut moved into the middle east and eventually to the Roman empire, where the nut was well known. America did not get the nut until 1904.

The pistachio is a desert plant and its bush grows up to ten feet tall. Pistachios are diocecious, which means there are girl pistachio trees and boy pistachio trees. (This is truly a fun fact.)

I personally love pistachios, because they are delicious and fun to eat. They are also healthy. Pistachios are good in pudding, ice cream, and just plain by themselves. Sometimes, I like to call them “spistachios”. Just for fun.

And also, Pistachio is also a good name for a hilarious Dana Carvey character.

Happy Pistachio day everyone.
